Chief Minister - The second - Dr Raman Singh

Dr Raman Singh is the second chief minister of Chhattisgarh. He created history by becoming the first elected chief minister of Chhattisgarh.

Born on October 15, 1952, in the family of a farmer, Dr. Raman Singh was destined to be the first elected Chief Minister of the newly born State of Chhattisgarh. Dr. Raman Singh's schooling took place in Chhuyikhadan, Kawardha and Rajnandgaon. In 1971-72, he studied at the Government Science College, Bemetara, for his Bachelor of Science degree.

On December 7, 2003 Chhattisgarh Governor Lt-Gen (Retd) Krishna Mohan Seth administered the oath of office and secrecy to Dr Raman Singh at the Police Ground, Raipur in presence of huge crowd. He was Lok Sabha member from Rajnandgaon at that time.
